What to wear on the first date?

You know the old adage: You’ve only got one chance to make a first impression. Well, that holds especially true on a first date. No one is going to tell you what to wear and what not as everyone has their own style. The main thing is to make sure you are wearing something comfortable. If you are not comfortable, your date will notice this and it could change the mood of the date. Always consider the nature of the date and try to dress accordingly.

For Men: If you’re going out on a date with a woman, dress like a man. Women are obsessed with shoes, not just their own shoes or shoes on other women – your shoes. So wear nice ones pick an appropriate pair-lace ups or loafers for the evening; driving shoes, moccasins, or simple sneakers for the afternoon.  Since you are going out for the first time, dress for it, don’t sweat the tie, but a jacket would be an excellent idea. All you need to do is make sure you made an effort. And always remember to compliment your date on how lovely they look (but not too much).

For Women: Head-to-toe ruffles aren’t necessary; a hint of feminity is.  Pair soft tops with structured pants or skirts; long, flowing skirts with a simple top. Pink is the ultimate romantic color. Dressing in revealing clothes on the first date may get his attention, but it won’t hold his affection for long. Instead try peekaboo styles that do keep something to the imagination; crocheted sweaters, sheer tops over a tank, slit skirts. If you want to wear jeans opt for something with a bit stretch if figure-hugging styles is your thing. Try leg-lengthening wedges or sandal that laces at the ankle for added foot appeal.

Hint of tip: Don’t try to be someone you’re not. You want your date to like you, not some dolled up unattainable version of you. As long as you’re comfortable, confident and honest, you’ll look fabulous.
