Kimchi

Kimchi is one well known dish of Korea. Whenever Korea is mentioned, Kimchi comes to mind.  For people who are unaware of what Kimchi is, it is a traditional fermented Korean side dish made of vegetables with a variety of seasonings.


It is normally described as spicy and sour while the taste varies from region to region. For those who don't take chili there is also white kimchi that is non-spicy.

Kimchi is made of various types of vegetables and therefore it contains a high concentration of dietary fiber, at the same time low in calories. Since Kimchi is made up of onions, garlic and chili peppers, one serving is enough to provide over 50% of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C. Kimchi also named one of the world's healthiest food for being rich in vitamins, aiding digestion, and even possibly reducing cancer growth.

Kimchi is very common in Korea since the locals have it for every meal. You can find it in every Korean restaurant and the local supermarkets. With Kimchi recipes readily available on the net, you can also make your own.
